Frequently Asked Questions

Is my payment secure?

We are well aware that some people may be concerned about giving their credit card details via the internet, so that's why we trade using only the highest levels of credit card security over a secure network. All details are confidential while input on the internet and are then sent to us using most secure data encryption software (PGP). To ensure a high level of security, customers' credit card details are protected using an encryption algorithm. In plain English, this means that the credit card details are scrambled. Once scrambled credit card details are protected from unscrupulous parties. Once notified that an order has been taken, the encrypted order details are downloaded, unscrambled and processed via a PDQ machine. This means that all data input on our site is coded and can only be decoded by ourselves. Our hosting solution provides 128-bit encryption security. The industry standard 40-bit encryption is the recommended minimum for other hosts.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards and debit cards except American Express. Please note credit cards are subject to a 2% credit card fee which will be added to your order.

Do you provide samples?

Yes, samples of our tiles are sold at £2.50 per each. These are 100 x 100mm samples. Contact us via email or call us in the office if you wish to order an example of the stone, giving your payment and address details.

When will my order arrive?

For sealer and stone ancillary items, we will ship your order using FedEx Express Courier service. This guarantees delivery within 24 hours across most of the UK. Tile orders are 2 - 3 working days. If you live in the Isle of Wight, Scottish Offshore Islands, Channel Islands, or Northern Island please call for a quote .

Is there anything I should do in preparation for delivery?

You should allow for a 7.5 ton truck to get up to the point of despatch. The stone will be placed, at the drivers discretion, at the nearest safe point to the property. This may be on the roadside if the driver cannot gain access to the property. Please notify us if there are any access restrictions to the property so that we can plan ahead and be prepared.

Can I lay the stone myself?

We strongly recommend that you use an experienced and professional tiler who is equipped and experienced in laying natural stone.

Some of the edges of my slates are chipped?

Natural Stone Products can contain small blemishes, fissures and sometimes chipping at the edges, this is to be expected with this type of material and irregularities can be easily be remedied during fitting by using the correct grout.

My project is over a period of time and will require several orders.

It is advisable to buy your stone in one batch, as the colour and surface of the stone can vary between batches. You should also ensure your tiler blends the colours so that the variation of shades are evenly placed.

What happens if my goods are damaged in transit?

If the order was delivered by a courier please call us to inform us immediately, make sure you sign for the goods as damaged. It is important that you inspect your goods before the driver leaves. We may require a photograph of the damaged goods in order to pursue a claim. In some cases we may collect the damaged goods.

I have just received my stone tiles and they appear darker than my sample.

Don’t worry, often stone has just absorbed water and can take a few days to dry out completely and return to its natural appearance, this can sometimes take a few days as stone tiles are often packed wet prior to shipping.

Which products will need to be sealed?

It is advisable to seal natural stone to protect from grease, water and dirt. This includes basins & polished stone tiles. Tiles should normally be sealed before and after grouting for maximum protection. The instructions for using the sealant will be on the tin or downloaded from the sealer section of the website.

Which Sealant should I use?

We have a range of sealants which work with different products. If you do not want the colour of the stone to change, we advise our product SIOseal Plus, however many stones are enhanced by applying our Stoneseal. Please call us if you are unsure as to which products to use.

Will my stone require further treatment after installation?

Whether your stone requires re-sealing or not will depend on the environment the stone is in. Porous stone such as limestone or sandstone will need more treatments than polished stone tiles such as granite or marble, especially if used in wet areas. Our sealants are developed for the commercial market and we stand by them. However, a high use area might benefit from beng re-sealed in the future.

Do you have a showroom where I can view your products?

Yes, our showroom features our entire range of products and is located at Gatefoot Mill, Windermere Road, Staveley
